Picture left - An original hand-made wooden sash pulley that we recovered from a substancial Georgian farm house in wiltshire. (New pulleys) Wooden pulleys were superceded in the latter part of the eighteenth century by metal ones ,often made in brass, there was a class distinction in their use , brass being used for the best rooms and the old fashioned wooden pulleys used in kitchens and related offices.
